The development of the Ericusspitze as the eastern gateway to Hamburg’s HafenCity district, an important location in terms of urban planning, was a significant architectural challenge. The architects’ brief was to create a development with ‘landmark character’ – and their answer was the the striking new headquarters of the Spiegel publishing group and the Ericus-Contor, designed by Danish architect Henning Larsen. Dominant in terms of their sheer size and airily transparent thanks to their glazed façade, the Spiegel-Verlagshaus and Ericus-Contor represent the most highly discerning architecture and offer a high degree of space efficiency.
The office building and commercial space has been awarded Platinum DGNB certification.
