Wolfsburg, 30 June 2021 – Today sees the topping-out ceremony for the BERLINERHAUS building in Wolfsburg. Together with Lord Mayor Klaus Mohrs, project partners Mr Ulrich Höller, Managing Partner at ABG Real Estate Group, and Prof. Dr Falk Hecker, Managing Partner at Hecker GmbH, will conduct the ceremony for the landmark complex in the heart of the city. In an excellent location right next to the Berlin Bridge on a total area of approx. 22,000 sqm, a landmark office tower will be completed by mid-2022 together with a stylish design budget hotel, already rented out on a long-term basis at the end of 2020 to property investor and operator Premier Inn.
Klaus Mohrs, Lord Mayor of the City of Wolfsburg, stated: “This building complex, whose architectural design I personally find highly appealing, has been constructed as a new landmark in an important and city-central location. It lies at a major junction for the city to the north and south of the Mittelland Canal, and can be seen from quite a distance to the west and east along the railway line. It marks a successful start to – and could almost be taken as a symbol of – the further development of our inner city to the east beyond the Berlin Bridge. Now that the transformation has started, other new buildings will soon follow.”

The elegant office tower, 45 m high, will sport a delicate façade of glass and steel. Three attractive, two-storey 'sky lounges' will offer visitors a unique view of the AUTOSTADT and Wolfsburg Castle. Twelve full storeys will host approximately 6,500 sqm of flexible office space for future tenants, within walking distance of the city centre and the main station. The complex is completed by two transverse five-storey blocks for the hotel, situated on two-storey pedestals. The hotel will offer 260 rooms and around 8,000 sqm of rental space. Around 170 car parking spaces will be available.

Architectural firm Stauth Architekten was commissioned with the planning of the project. The hotel will be operated by Premier Inn, a subsidiary of UK market leader Whitbread PLC, as a Premium Economy Hotel. It is scheduled to open its doors mid-2022.
